And bunches and bunches of these:
From these:
AND I made these:
And this:
Some guy hit me while I was stopped at a red light last week. He was probably going 30-35 mph and just didn't stop like the rest of the cars did. It was minor cosmetic damage but my car started making this horrible grinding, whining noise when I was backing up and, well, when the car was moving at all. So I took it in to the shop and they have determined that it needs new brakes - front and rear, a new tire and that some rear bar thing is messed up...we are talking well over $1000 in repairs that they are saying don't have anything to do with the accident.
I was outside today with the insurance man (who was giving me an estimate on our latest car accident) when I looked down and saw the most unique creature in my driveway...a YELLOW ladybug. I put my hand on the ground and let it crawl on me and then I just played with it for a little while like I was a 7 year old....letting it crawl from one hand to the other. The insurance man walked up to me to hand me my estimate and gave me the strangest look. I just told him I was a big fan of ladybugs.![]() |

Jeff has an ouchee. He was working in the yard yesterday (chopping up leaves with the lawnmower ---> http://nicolesdoodlings.blogspot.com/2007/03/mowing-leaves.html ) when he stumbled in the house all bent over. He had a hitch in his getty-up....or he had strained his back for those of you who don't speak Alabama. So he has been on the couch with a heating pad all weekend. Yesterday he had to use his crutches to get to the bathroom (I was sweet and offered to get him a urinal :)). That means I had laundry duty, trash duty and errand running duty by myself all weekend...no fun. He is a little better now but he is pondering whether he will be able to go to work in he morning. If you know Jeff then you know that it takes a major illness or the house falling down to get him to miss work.
That would be my name if I were born to Sarah Palin...ha ha. Visit this site --> http://politsk.blogspot.com/2008/09/sarah_13.html
to enter your name and see how it can be slaughtered to fit in the with the other Palin children (named Track, Trig, Bristol, Willow and Piper). Kinda funny. I put in Lily Faith and it told me that her '"Palin Name" would be Blitz Harden. I give her one for creativity...and good highlights...but baby naming, not so much.

Remember in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" when the dad used Windex for EVERYTHING....to treat skin problems, infections, etc.?? I remember thinking how hokey that was but now, I have realized, Jeff has his own version of Windex...it's Alka Seltzer Plus.
So the joy of the trip was that Jeff and I got to spend some time together, that we got to eat and eat and eat some more at the PAULA DEEN BUFFET (that's right butter galore!), and that Jeff got to push the little buttons on the slot machine until he just couldn't push them anymore. His picture is above - sideways - you have to use your imagination.
This is actually kinda scary. I have been in nursing school for almost 10 months and today was the first time that I actually drew blood from a real live person - not one of those plastic arms connected to some red colored water! Surprisingly, lots of nursing students go all the way through school without doing basic nurse-ey things like starting IVs, catheters, drawing blood, yada yada. I really want to have the chance to do these things while I'm in school but, truthfully, I am PETRIFIED to do them. So when I found out this morning that I was "the chosen one" to draw blood in clinicals I had my own episode of diaphoresis, tremors, pallor and just plain near-puking.

We don't need a special day, really, to remember our own pregnancy loss. I have blogged about it several times so if you are a reader of my blog then you know the pain that I still face about what happened on April 17th, 2003 and the weeks preceding. I am definitely not alone in this pain...there are so many women and families that have suffered similar sadness. Some have gone on to have beautiful families and some, like us, are still waiting for that dream to come true.
Today I remember my sweet baby that left my body and went to live in heaven. I hope that he or she is in the arms of my grandmothers and Jeff's mom.
Dear Sweet Daughter,-Gayle Leubecker
As a girl I had a common dream, to be a mom someday.
My baby would have eyes of blue and hair the hue of hay.
But now my dreams have been transformed. New visions fill my head.
Now the tresses that I long to stroke are raven black instead.
And in my dreams those eyes are not so big or blue or round.
Now in my dreams they're almond shaped and colored cocoa brown.
And in my dreams my arms can stretch across enormous seas.
They reach half-way around the world and hold you close to me.
As you grow in your mother's womb, carefully knit together,
you're also growing in my heart, where you will stay forever.
And in my dreams the moment that your mother says good-bye,
I'll be right there to comfort you and hold you as you cry.
Our features may not look alike; we're different as can be.
But still I know the Father has created you for me.
And though I've not yet seen your face, or held your tiny hands,
and though we're half a world apart in very different lands.
I'll be right there to get you just as soon as God allows.
But til He says the time is right I give to you this vow.
I'll pray for your protection every night on bended knee.
For God will hold you in His arms, until you're here with me.

And now to reveal the identity of the objects in my last post....
I admit that I even DVR'ed an episode which Jeff is watching right now. The little caption box in the corner of the screen says, "Who's my baby's dad...my husband or his nephew?". Ba-ha-ha! We can never get enough of the, "I don't MAKE sick babies" or "Mexicans don't HAVE blue-eyed, blonde-haired kids" followed by Maury pronouncing..."Yo dude...you ARE the father." I just love when the moms get all up in the daddies faces and scream, "I told you...now pay up!" Of course there are the ones that are not so positive where the mommies end up running off the set and collapsing backstage only with Maury to chase them for his form of "comfort" (aka prying for information about all the booty calls she had so he can do more DNA tests). Of course the men stay on stage and perform their jovial break-dancing for the audience in the meantime. Such quality programming, isn't it?
In this mess of politics, it's nice to see something a little funny in it all, right? I will be glad when November gets here...then we can have our scary Burger King commercials back instead of the "I'm good and he sucks" political ads.

I have been perusing the adoption rumor boards and taking a look at some folk's blogs and I don't know why or how but I have a feeling. I have no reason to believe this and choose to do so in spite of the adoption forecast that puts us with our baby in mid-late 2010 but I just have a strange but strong feeling today that Jeff and I will be parents in 2009. Of course I want it to be sooner than the dreaded 2010 but I have come to terms with that but still, I just feel it in my gut that it will be next year.
The season ended with Betty having to choose between Gio, who wanted her to go to Italy with him, and Henry, who proposed to her. She chose NEITHER. I shoulda seen it coming. The whole independent woman thing got the best of her and she wanted to discover herself. C'mon though...really...
And here's Henry...
I have looked up medial knee pain on the internet and found these risk factors for runner's knee (which is my self-diagnosis):Wide Hips (female runners) CHECK - I was blessed with them (thanks mom and dad)
Knock Knees (Genu Valgum) I don't think so
Subluxating Patella CHECK - I think I have this as a consequence of my missing cartilage
Patella Alta (high patella) Huh? I don't know what to compare it to
Small medial pole of patella or corresponding portion of femur Maybe...I'll have to do an MRI on myself
Weak Vastus Medialis CHECK - I really need a personal trainer
Weak Quadriceps Muscles CHECK - remember that thing about the personal trainer?
Tight Hamstrings or calf muscles CHECK - duh...a cute, muscle-ey personal trainer would be nice
Pronation of the feet CHECK - I am on over-pronator I believe
So the moral of this blog post is that my knee hurts. I also have a massive blister from trying to break in my new shoes. Any advice?
New Kids on the Block (my personal favorite was Donnie - the bad boy)Where are they now? Well, duh. They just reunited, released an album and are touring. On a sad note, Donnie and his wife of several years just filed for divorce. Maybe the whole boy band renewal was too much for her.
Johnny Gill Where is he now? Well...when I searched on the internet I saw a lot of shirtless pictures so I guess he's a stripper. Ha ha...not really. He tours with other early 90s R&B stars like Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant and does shows with them as New Edition every now and then. He can saaaang.
Corey HaimWhere is he now? Well hopefully today he is sober 'cause yesterday he wasn't. He and Corey Feldman have a reality show. As Dad would say, he is a "fatty patty"... one with a severe addiction and some major issues. Poor thing...bless his heart ;).
That's the run down on my 80s and 90s idols...I guess it says something about how old I am. That was fun...back to studying.

Today I went for a little run and it started raining on me. At first I was annoyed and thought about turning back but then I realized that it actually felt good and I kept going. It was beautiful. One thing about running that I love is that it takes me to a place where I can think clearly, without the distractions of life. I need that right now.
