Just wanted to tell you a few tips that helped us a lot with our first daughter...
-bringing 1/2 size ziplock bags for the increments of money needed for the adoption, and labeling each one with stickies, then keeping them all together in a larger baggie. And two fanny packs. One for me and one for husband, each with our passports kept in them, (while traveling in the plane to China) one with all the cash we were bringing for extra money and one with the baggies of needed adoption fees.
-Extra large freezer ziplock bags (one for each day) filled with a set of clothes for the baby, including socks, tights, hair ties. As we used each one, we were able to fill the ziplocks with things that were unsanitary like used diapers. Or simply used them for other things. This was SOOO helpful with a toddler, or when hubby would get her dressed in the mornings. It was very convenient.
-Overhead bag with American food items (yes including bread and a tube of PB and J.), goldfish, raisins, cheerios, and just comfort snacks. The overhead bag also held medical supplies. I would NOT go without extra pharmaceuticals. I forgot the pseudophed and it was hell getting a sinus infection, till we got some from our travel mates. Immodium was a must, and vitamins. We might not use them, but someone else might (including sanitary napkins, just in case). And even if NO ONE uses them, it's better to have them than to try to find them in China.
-Snacking bowls with lids (goldfish, raisins, and a full, large bag of cheerios without the box...these were a lifesaver with a hungry toddler on the go.
-Bags of cheap underwear for myself and for hubby, that we could toss as we used them, instead of carrying around dirty underwear or expecting someone to clean them for us. Also, one cheap tooth brush for every day was nice too...because then we knew we were not contaminating our mouths with the tap water, accidentally.
-Beach balls are the best. We had two different sizes. Stacking cups. And bubbles. Also, slip on shoes (I forgot what they are called) for toddler. The carpets are really dirty. It seems they vacuum but rarely shampoo.

Don't worry. We can do this. Take everything out of the packaging and make it as small as possible. Start there. :)
