Wednesday (5//25) in Guangzhou - Consulate Appointment

On Wednesday we had another big day for Lily. We are actually in Guangzhou to do the US side of the adoption business and we had our consulate appointment this day. This is where we have a swearing in ceremony, apply for Lily's visa and complete all that immigration paperwork that we have been renewing every 15-18 months for the past 5 years. What we did that day will allow Lily to be a US citizen the moment we touch down in Chicago on the way home. We have planned our entire trip around this appointment so I was expecting it to be huge but it really wasn't. We took a bus to the adoption field office of the US consulate, went through security, took our oath, went through all our documents with an officer, paid our visa fee and left. Our guide, Louise, made sure we were prepared so we didn't have any glitches.
